Alia Bhatt was just 11 when she saw Kapoor on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black, where the 23 year old was working as an assistant director. While she went there for an audition, she developed an instant crush on the actor.
Two years later, Bhansali casted RK in Saawariya, his debut film. She was in school when the movie was released. It took less than 3 hours for her to fall in love with Saawariya's leadactor.
Four years from then, Bhatt made her debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year and his talk show, Koffee With Karan, where she jokingly admitted her love for Ranbir Kapoor. After which, Kapoor showed up to promote her film Highway. That was the time when he was dating his Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani co-star Katrina Kaif - who also happened to be Alia's best friend.
Rumour banks were busy linking the actress with her co-stars Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Arjun Kapoor - which she time and again denied. The rough patch of Ranbir-Katrina's relationship had just kicked in, thus ending their 4-year long relationship. Post his breakup, Alia and Ranbir were spotted often after they were roped in for Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra.
In 2018, the couple officially made their first public appearance together at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding. After he confessed their relationship to a magazine, the couple was spotted often at cozy lunches and family gatherings. Knowing the social animal Alia is, she took to Instagram uploading adorable pictures of the two of them.
When his father Rishi Kapoor was admitted in New York's medical facility in 2018, they would visit him together. In soemthing very rare for a Bollywood scenario, they would openly and candidly confess their love at award functions. In 2020, Alia accompanied Neetu Kapoor to RK's cousin, Armaan Jain's wedding.
During an interview with Rajeev Masand amidst the lockdown, Ranbir showed how proud he was of his girlfriend. "You know, my girlfriend Alia is an overachiever. In the lockdown, she has taken all the possible classes - from guitar to screenwriting, she has done it all. I feel like an underachiever in front of her," quoted the Tamasha actor.
While promoting her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia said he is the "best boyfriend!" The lovely couple tied a knot on 15th April, 2022, at RK's legacy home in Chembur, where they spent 5 beautiful years of their relationship.
Taking it to Instagram, the actress said, 'Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home hellip in our favourite spot - the balcony we've spent the last 5 years of our relationship - we got married. With so much already behind us, we can't wait to build more memories together hellip memories that are full of love, laughter, comfortable silences, movie nights, silly fights, wine delights and Chinese bites. Thank you for all the love and light during this very momentous time in our lives. It has made this moment all the more special. Love, Ranbir and Alia.'
