The month of May is a celebration of the icons. And speaking of icons, May 21 marks as a very special day for India. 28 years ago, this was the day when Sushmita Sen was crowned Miss Universe.

The actress took to social media and celebrated the nostalgic win. "Beautiful is a feeling. Happy 28 years of INDIA winning Miss Universe for the very first time!!Time flies...Beauty remains!!!#Love #Pride #Motherland #MissUniverse1994 #INDIA. Mahal Kita #Philippines," she wrote.

Her ex-boyfriend Rohman Shawl was also a part of the celebration. Alongside the lovely note, the actress shared a stunning picture where she was dressed in red. Sushmita is known for being kind and generous with her fans. She shared a string of her fans congratulating her on making India proud.

The model turned actor competed against 77 countries around the world and became the first Indian woman to be titled Miss Universe in 1994. In the same year, Aishwarya Rai was also announced as Miss World.

Last seen in the thriller web series Arya, Sushmita is currently waiting for the right script to be seen in the next movie or web series.
