3 Ultimate Box-Office Clashes In December

OCTOBER 03,2023
2023 has been a big year for movies, with theaters soaring in the success of new releases. It all started with Pathaan, which broke all records to become the highest grosser of all time. It also marked the return of Shah Rukh Khan to the screen after a long gap. Among the other big releases was the unexpected success of Gadar 2, which smashed all box office numbers and saw people rush to catch Sunny Deol screaming and breaking bones. Everything changed again with the Atlee film Jawan, which surpassed Khan's own previous record to become the first Indian film to have earned more than 600 crores in the country.
However, that's not all. With many more big releases coming up in the last three months, 2023 is going to be a great year for the movies. Here are three big box office clashes to watch out for in December:
1. Sam Bahadur vs. Animal: Its Vicky Kaushal vs. Ranbir Kapoor at the beginning of December. The two actors were last seen together in Rajkumar Hirani's biopic, Sanju. Now they are gearing up to clash with each other at the box office with two varyingly different films. Sam Bahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, who was the chief of the Army staff in the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.
Animal is the return of Ranbir Kapoor and the much-awaited collaboration between him and Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Touted to be a complex tale about a toxic relationship between a father and son, the film also stars Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in the lead roles. Both films are slated to release on December 1, and only time will tell which one will rule the theaters.
2. Dunki vs. Salar: Fans are going crazy with this clash that is expected to be a historic battle between the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, and Baahubali star Prabhas. With totally different storylines and sensibilities, the films are going to pull the massive fan followings of the two stars in big numbers to the screens. Along with that, what is interesting are the directors of the films, who also enjoy stardom.
Rajkumar Hirani has time and again established himself as someone who marries serious issues with humor. His previous films, right from Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) to 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014), are classics that are watched again and again. On the other hand, Prashanth Neel has been on the watchout of everyone after his record-breaking and nerve-wracking action films, KGF: Chapters 1 and 2.
This will prove to be the most ultimate of all the battles as stars from the North and South go against each other.

3. Merry Christmas vs. Yodha: The makers of Merry Christmas pushed the release of their film to December 8, which was earlier going to be released on the 15th. This decision was taken to avoid a clash with Yodha. However, right after this announcement, Karan Johar made sure that the battle was on by declaring that Yodha would be released on the 8th as well. This is a clear sign of a clash at the box office. Yodha is produced by Johar and stars Siddharth Malhotra and Disha Patani in the lead roles.
Merry Christmas, on the other hand, is made by the Andhadhun director Sriram Raghavan and has Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the main roles. The first looks of both of these films promise to be entertaining. All eyes are turned towards Merry Christmas to see what Raghavan has to offer now, with his last film shoking everyone to the core.
Needless to say, it is going to be a banger this December and a treat for all film lovers.
