Aamir Khan, one of the finest actors in Bollywood, saw a massive downfall after his film Laal Singh Chaddha turned out to be a box office disaster. The movie, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Naga Chaitanya, was a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump.

For the uninitiated, the film marked Aamir and Kareena's second movie after 3 Idiots. While the film tried to recreate the Hollywood magic, it became a victim of trolls and massive commercial failure.

Aamir Khan recently appeared on Rhea Chakraborty's podcast and opened up on many things, including what led to the movie's failure. He went on to blame himself for the same.

Often called Mr. Perfectionist, the actor admitted that he has made quite a few mistakes in his Bollywood career, especially when it comes to choosing a movie like Laal Singh Chaddha.

In conversation with Rhea Chakraborthy on her podcast, Chapter 2, Khan spoke about his big-budget movies like Thugs of Hindostan, where he said he didn't like the film either and how the team had gone terribly wrong with the execution.

Aamir further added that despite his role being pitched higher in the movie, he could've done a better job than what he actually did.

'My performance as Laal Singh was pitched higher. But the original film was a hit. The reason behind that was that although the writing structure of Forrest Gump was not mainstream, Tom Hanks' performance was brilliant. My performance let the film down. My understanding is that my performance was not good. I've learned a lot from it, so maybe my performance in the next film will be better,' the Dangal actor said.

Aamir Khan further added, 'As a creative person, I feel that we got very close to what we set out to make. A few people like the film a lot it's almost their favorite movie, but the majority didn't feel connected because my performance was weak.'

Weakness and mistakes are opportunities. It's important to understand the reason for your failure. During the postmortem, it is very important to be honest. That's why when I started Sitare Zameen Par, I started it with the thought that everything will be good.'
