Adar Poonawalla Invests 1000 Crore In Karan Johar`s Dharma Productions

One of the leading production houses in India, Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, has given us some phenomenally entertaining movies. While the filmmaker initially focused on producing movies, he also branched out into supporting web series and OTT releases through his venture, Dharmatic Entertainment.

Now, businessman Adar Poonawalla-led Serene Productions has invested Rs. 1000 crore by buying a 50 percent stake in Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment (collectively Dharma), India's leading production house.

Through this investment, Serene Productions will hold a 50 percent stake, with Karan Johar retaining the rest of 50 percent ownership. The filmmaker will spearhead the company's creative vision as the Executive Chairman, while Apoorva Mehta, the Chief Executive Officer of Dharma Productions, will oversee the operational excellence.

The interesting collaboration between Serene Productions and Dharma is designed to capitalise on the opportunities of the latter's legacy of storytelling with Poonawalla's strategic acumen and resources.

The collaboration aims to further transofrm content creation, distribution, and audience engagement by integrating advanced technologies and pioneering production methods.

One of the reasons Adar is investing in Johar's Dharma Productions is the former's wife Natasha Poonawalla's relationship with the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director. The two are best of friends and often hang out together.
