Akshay Kumar's citizenship history

Back in the 1990s, Akshay Kumar applied for Canadian citizenship after fifteen of his films failed at the box office in a row. Although he did get Canadian citizenship, his films like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Aitraaz were box office successes. The actor later gave multiple hits and reapplied for Indian citizenship in 2019.

In a previous interview, Akshay Kumar commented on getting back his Indian citizenship. He said, 'India is everything to me... Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained, is from here. And I'm fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything.'

Akshay Kumar was last seen in Sukumaran's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alongside Tiger Shroff. The film did not do well at the box office. According to reports, the actor recently wrapped up filming for Jolly LLB 3, where he will star alongside Arshad Warsi.
