Karan Joahr's directorial comeback project Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, headlined by Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, has a new release date. The Dharma Productions' next was supposed to be out on February 10 but the makers delayed the release date. Taking the director's throne after seven long years, Karan Johar is quite excited to return to his first love - cinema.

Taking it to Instagram, Alia Bhatt announced the new release date of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. Now, the romantic comedy will release on July 28, 2023. Her post read, 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.. releasing 28th July 2023.'


Earlier in November, the filmmaker took to his Instagram to announce his next directorial project and mentioned April 28 as its release date. Opening up about the 7-year-long hiatus from the direction, KJo wrote, 'After 7 years, it's time for me to return to my first home- the cinemas. I had the absolute honor of working with not one, but many illustrious actors on the set of my 7th film. The familial nostalgic feeling of an ensemble cast, creating music that captivates the hearts and a story that runs deep to the roots of our family traditions.'

Along with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the Karan Johar directorial will also feature Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The filmmaker earlier announced the cast of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani on this Instagram story in a rather poetic manner.

He wrote,"7 years ke baad, ishq hoga aabaad, Pritam ka sur aur sangeet, Amitabh Bhattacharya matching every beat! Alia hogi film mein guys wah!!! Isn't that a surprise?! Machayega dhoom sada Ranveer, what a pair, what a tasveer! Jaya ji in an undekha avatar, Shabana ji se ho jaayega pyaar! Dharam ji ka swag is intact hum aa rahe hai, that is a fact! To kijiye intezaar shaam ka, mere dil se nikle paigaam ka! for every age, buzurg to jawaani. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani."
