At The Trailer Launch Of ‘Govinda Naam Mera’, Vicky Kaushal Talks About His Love For Akshay Kumar

During the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Govinda Naam Mera,' Vicky Kaushal shares his journey from a movie buff to an actor and what inspires him to be the person he is today. He even mentioned how he was encouraged by watching the movies such as International Khiladi.

Splashed with the genre of dark comedy, the movie shows Vicky in a never seen avatar. The plot revolves around a murder mystery but at the same time, it does not miss the other elements like comedy, suspense, and romance. The actor is playing the role of Govinda Waghmare with co-stars Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar.

During the trailer launch, he was asked about what inspired him to become an actor, to which he said that, movies like International Khiladi were something impactful for him and that's how he became a huge fan of the legend Akshay Kumar.

When Vicky was asked about why is he so fascinated with Akshay Kumar's films, he said, 'English films came really late into my life. So, I have grown up to Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Shah Rukh Khan films. I started to go to theatres at a later stage in my life. My first film was DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge). At that point in time, films like International Khiladi, i.e. the Khiladi series would often feature on television. So we were all fans of such films because we grew up watching them.'

He added, 'Probably my first germ of wanting to become an actor was seeded by such films. And Govinda Naam Mera is a fragment of the same fabric. It is an ode to such pulpy films where there is murder, comedy, romance, betrayal, suspense, and all of it in one film. I am very grateful to Shashank Khaitan to have come up with this concept where he has kept it contemporary but it is also an ode to the pulpy Bollywood masala films.'

In the trailer, we can see Bhumi Pednekar as the dominating wife and Kiara Advani as a supportive girlfriend.
