The news of MLA and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique's killing has shocked the nation. He shared a close bond to many Bollywood stars, especially Salman Khan, whom he considered as a brother.

Seeing this closeness with the Tiger Zinda Hai actor and his alleged link with gangster Dawood Ibrahim, the speculation of Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang being involved in Baba Siddique's murder was confirmed.

Amid this upsetting news, here's a throwback to when the Bishnoi community's president considered forgiving the Salman Khan only one one condition.

Somy Ali apologises on behalf of Salman, Bishnoi community responds

Earlier in May this year, actress Somy Ali issued a formal apology to the Bishnoi community with regard to the Blackbuck poaching case of 1998.

Responding to her apology, Devendra Budiya, the President of the All India Bishnoi Society, said that they would consider the matter if her former boyfriend, Salman Khan, made a formal apology.

For the unversed, the Dabangg star was the prime suspect in the Blackbuck poaching case in 1998. The alleged hunting of blackbucks took place near Jodhpur, Rajasthan, when the actor was shooting for his film 'Hum Saath Saath Hai.'

Apart from him, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan, and Neelam were also allegedly involved in the case.

Somy Ali apologised to the Bishnoi community on behalf of Salman Khan a few days ago. She said, 'I apologise on his behalf if he has made a mistake please forgive him. Taking someone's life is not acceptable, be it Salman or an average common man.'

The President of the Bishnoi community responded to her by saying, 'If Salman himself apologises, the Bishnoi society will consider the apology. The mistake was not made by Somy Ali it was committed by Salman. Therefore, he should propose to the Bishnoi society that he wants to apologise."

"He should come to the temple and seek forgiveness. He should further take an oath that he will never make such a mistake in the future and will always work to protect wildlife and conserve the environment. If he does this, a decision of the society to forgive him will be considered,' Budiya concluded.

The Blackbuck Case: Background and History

The Bishnoi community considers the blackbuck a sacred animalmdashin fact, a reincarnation of their spiritual leader, Jambaji. They were the ones who filed a complaint against Salman Khan for hunting down and killing their sacred animal.

Although arrested at first, Salman Khan was immediately let out on bail. In 2016, the Rajasthan High Court dismissed the case, declaring a lack of evidence against him.

Since then, there has been a regular tussle between the Bishnoi community and Salman. Just a few days ago, two gunmen belonging to Lawrence Bishnoi's gang fired shots outside Salman Khan's residence early in the in the morning. Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, later took responsibility for the threat in a Facebook post.
