Bollywood singer Monali Thakur shocked her fans in Varanasi when she abruptly ended her live performance on December 22. Famous for chartbusters like Sawar Loon, Zara Zara Touch Me, Chham Chham, and Laila Majnu, the singer walked off the stage just 45 minutes into her set. Her decision was attributed to inadequate infrastructure at the venue, which she claimed posed a serious risk to her safety and her team.

Performance Cut Short Amid Chaos

Monali Thakur was excited to perform for her fans in Varanasi but left midway, citing concerns over the poorly managed stage. She expressed her disappointment, stating, 'I am disheartened that my team and I were so excited to perform here. Let's not talk about the infrastructure and its condition, as that is the management's responsibility. I can't explain what they have done to the stage just so they can steal money.'

The singer further shared her frustrations about the stage conditions, saying, 'Time and again, I've said that I could injure my ankle here. My dancers have been telling me to calm down, but everything was a mess. We were trying because I am answerable to you all, and you come for me, right? So, you will hold me accountable for all of this.'

Apologising to her fans for halting the show, Monali also blamed the organisers for their lack of professionalism. 'I hope I grow so big that I can take all the responsibility myself and never have to rely on any Tom, Dick, and Harry, who are such useless, unethical, and irresponsible to begin with. I sincerely apologise that we have to shut down this show, but I am going to come back for sure. And I hope I can give you a much better event than this. So, forgive us.'

Her decision to prioritise safety over performance resonated with many fans, who took to social media to voice their support. One fan commented, 'She is right. Point is it's live performance, and we know how it might lead to injuries and damage to people.'

Rising Concerns Over Concert Infrastructure

This incident follows another bold statement by singer Diljit Dosanjh, who recently announced he would no longer perform in India due to poor infrastructure. 'Here we don't have an infrastructure for live shows. This is a source of big revenue many people get work and can work here... Till this happens, I won't do shows in India, that's for sure,' he said.

Both incidents highlight the pressing need for better concert infrastructure to ensure the safety of artists and attendees alike. Fans are now calling on event organisers to prioritise safety and professionalism in live performances.
