BTS Celebrates Emotional Discharge of Jin as He Completes Military Service

The wait is finally over for BTS fans around the world, affectionately known as ARMY. After 18 months of mandatory military service, Jin, the eldest member of the K-pop boy band, has been discharged. The emotional event, held on June 12, 2024, saw the singer reunite with his fellow bandmates and mark a significant milestone for BTS.



A Tearful Goodbye and a Warm Welcome

The discharge ceremony was a bittersweet occasion for both Jin and his fans. Video footage captured a tearful Jin as he prepared to leave the military camp. Fans, who had been counting down the days until his return, shared the emotional moment on social media.

However, the day wasn't all about saying goodbye. A heartwarming reunion awaited Jin outside the camp. There, clad in his military uniform, he was greeted by his fellow BTS members: RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. The emotional embrace between the bandmates showcased the strong bond they share. In a particularly touching gesture, RM presented Jin with flowers and even serenaded him with a saxophone rendition of their Grammy-nominated song, "Dynamite." Notably, Suga was absent from the ceremony.

Soon after, the official BTS X account posted a group picture of all seven members together. This photo featured all seven members together, along with a sign that read "Jin is Back" in the background, marking the first time the entire band had been pictured together in 18 months.

BTS anniversary and Jin's upcoming releases

Jin's discharge comes just in time for another significant date in BTS history: the band's anniversary. Having debuted on June 13, 2013, BTS will be celebrating their 11th anniversary this year. To further add to the celebratory mood, BigHit Music, BTS's agency, announced that Jin would be meeting fans at a special event. This event wouldn't just be a meet-and-greet lucky fans would even get hugs from the singer!

Jin's return marks the beginning of a new chapter for BTS. Having served at a front-line boot camp and as an assistant drill instructor, Jin's military service has undoubtedly been a transformative experience. Reports suggest that he might even be following up on his return with the release of a solo album in the coming months.

While Jin rejoins civilian life, the other six members are still completing their mandatory service. J-Hope is expected to be discharged next, with the remaining members following suit by June 2025. This means that fans will have to wait a little longer for a full BTS comeback.
