BTS’ J-Hope Discharged From Military After Serving for 18 Months

BTS member J-Hope, also known as Jung Hoseok, has officially completed his mandatory military service and returned to civilian life on October 17, 2024. After 18 months of duty in the South Korean military, the 30-year-old rapper was warmly welcomed by his fellow bandmate Jin. This marks an important moment for BTS fans and signals the gradual return of the group's members from their military commitments.
J-Hope's Military Service Comes to an End
J-Hope enlisted in April 2023 to fulfill his mandatory military service as required by South Korean law. Over the past year and a half, he served as an instructor and actively participated in various duties, including leading marches.He expressed gratitude to the people of Wonju, where he was stationed, saying, 'During my one year and six months of military life, I served as an instructor, so I went on many marches. Every time, I saw many citizens of Wonju. I want to convey my gratitude to the citizens of Wonju who always greeted me and supported me. It was very touching.'

J-Hope's discharge ceremony took place at the military base in Wonju, Gangwon Province, where Jin was present to greet him with flowers. Jin, who himself completed his military service earlier this year, helped J-Hope deliver his discharge speech.
The two BTS members shared a touching moment, with Jin holding the mic for J-Hope as he addressed the media. Reflecting on his service, J-Hope said, 'What I really felt over the past one year and six months is the immense dedication and hard work of the soldiers who protect our country. They are doing so much for the nation.'
Shortly after his discharge, J-Hope went live on Weverse to interact with fans. He thanked them for their continued support throughout his military service, stating, 'Thanks to the fans, I was able to finish it safely, with health.' He also spoke about how his time in the military taught him valuable lessons and helped him grow as a civilian.

What's Next for J-Hope?
Fans are already excited about what J-Hope has in store for the future. The rapper hinted at a potential collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Pharrell Williams. In an Instagram post, he shared a photo with Williams and teased, 'Can't wait for 2025.'Meanwhile, Jin is preparing for the release of his new single album Happy, set to drop on November 15, 2024. The album will include six tracks, including I'll Be There and Another Level.
With J-Hope and Jin back in the civilian world, BTS members RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are still serving in the military, with plans to reunite in 2025 for future group activities.
