2024 looks like a year filled with adventurous movies filled with high-octane action and intense drama. After a long wait, Marvel Cinematic Universe finally dropped the Deadpool and Wolverine teaser, and we cannot keep calm. The film brings back Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Almost six years after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, including the X-Men franchise, Deadpool became the new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Wolvering, who died in the 2017 release Logan, is back as Shatterstar in Deapool.
While Wolverine's face isn't shown prominently in the teaser, he does appear in one or two scenes. You will gasp as he unleashes his iconic claws and appears in his infamous yellow spandax suit.
Deapool and Wolverine teaser
The new MCU superhero movie is headlined by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The film also features Shawn Levy, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Lizzie Molyneux, Wendy Molyneux, and Zeb Wells. The teaser of Deadpool and Wolverine starts with Celebrating Wade Wilson's birthday party with the people he loves, like Vanessa, Colossus, Vanessa, Yukio, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Fat Gandalf, AKA Buck, Blind Al, Peter, and Dopinder.
Everything seems jolly good until his fellow members of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) gang show up. That incites Wade to show off his signature fourth-wall-breaking move. He assures the TVA gang that, while pissing might be a new thing for Disney, he's pretty familiar with the concept.
At the TVA, he faces Matthew MacFadyen (Succession's Tom), who tells him he's special and gives him a chance to be a 'hero among heroes.' Wade, bringing in his witty and satirical humor, replies, 'I am the Messiah I am Marvel Jesus.'
What follows is some intense action until a guy with sharp claws and yellow spandex shows up. Deadpool and Wolverine looks like a promising superhero flick that will take us on a rollercoaster ride of laughter, drama, action, fights, and everything in between.
Director Shawn Levy on Deadpool 3
The first two Deadpool movies were monstrous successes, especially for an R-rated film. In an old interview, director Shawn Levy opened up about how he brought in some great nuances and references from the previous superhero movies."For one key scene in the movie, I said to my stunt and action team, 'Guys, this is the Jedi moment.' I pulled up that scene of Vader and Luke on my phone and restudied how it was photographed, how it was blocked, the framing, the tempo," he said.
"The keen 'Star Wars' fan will see the shot in my 'Deadpool' movie that was inspired by a moment that I saw in a theater decades ago. That's forever a memory. And that's a treasure," Levy concluded.
Deadpool and Wolerine will release on July 25 in cinemas near you.
