Khesari Lal Yadav, a name synonymous with Bhojpuri cinema, has carved a niche for himself in the Indian entertainment industry. In a recent exclusive interview with Radio City, Yadav opened up about his success, his inspirations, and his dedication to his craft.



From Humble Beginnings to Stage Presence

Yadav's story is one that resonates with many. He shared that his journey began not on a glamorous set but on the streets of Delhi as a litti chokha vendor. He even worked in other people's homes to make ends meet. "Being poor was the greatest opportunity for me to kickstart my journey," he revealed, highlighting the unwavering determination that fueled his rise.

His first steps towards his dream were taken when he recorded his music on a cassette. However, the initial attempts weren't met with instant success. "A couple of the first few cassettes failed," he admitted. But Yadav persevered, his passion refusing to be dampened.

The turning point in Yadav's career came with his debut film, "Saajan Chale Sasuraal," in 2011. The movie marked his entry into Bhojpuri cinema, and he hasn't looked back since. He has gone on to star in over 70 films, captivating audiences with his acting prowess and screen presence.

Yadav's talents extend beyond acting. He is a prolific singer, having lent his voice to over 5,000 Bhojpuri songs. His music transcends language barriers, with him having worked in Hindi, Awadhi, and Haryanvi as well.

Keshari Lal Yadav talks about his plans to work in Bollywood films

During the interview, Yadav was asked about the possibility of venturing into Hindi cinema. His response showcased a deep respect for regional cinema. "If celebrities from South Indian cinema would've left the industry to work in Hindi movies, we wouldn't have gotten films like KGF, Pushpa, or Baahubali," he shared. He expressed his belief in staying true to one's roots and contributing to the growth of regional languages in cinema.

When asked about his life outside of work, Yadav's love for his craft shone through. "I love to sing. I love to act," he declared. He also revealed his dedication to physical fitness, stating, "I'm passionate about working on my body and making myself better."

His dedication extends to his diet as well. He shared that he practices mindful eating, focusing on smaller dinners and prioritising eating before 7 p.m. whenever his schedule allows.
