Bollywood is ready for yet another mega-movie clash. August 11 will see two big movie releases: Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel's Gadar 2 and OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. While the film industry has seen many such clashes where two films have released on the same day, this one is going to be different. Reportedly, Gadar 2 has surpassed OMG 2 when it comes to advance ticket bookings, with over 1.5 lakh tickets booked for the former.

Gadar 2 is the sequel to Sunny Deol's iconic 2001 release, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The movie was based on a Hindu-Muslim love story that bloomed during the brutal partition of India and Pakistan. It also featured Ameesha Patel in the lead. The patriotic drama is coming up with a sequel after almost two decades.

Gadar 2 advance bookings

The upcoming patriotic drama brings together the iconic 2001 pair Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. The trailer for Gadar 2 has excited the fans, so much so that over 1.5 Lakh tickets have been sold throughout the nation.

It has shattered all box office records, thus leaving behind Akshay Kumar's OMG 2. With four days to go until the release, trade analysts predict Gadar 2 will see the highest advance bookings.

On August 4, Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and released a shocking number of tickets booked back then. According to the film critic, Gadar 2 has sold 12,000 tickets in PVR, over 8,500 tickets in Inox, and more than 9,500 tickets in Cinepolis as of 10 p.m. on August 4.

If the latest box office trends were to be believed, the Sunny Deol starrer has added 4 crores gross (excluding blocked tickets) to its kitty. This is a considerable jump as compared to yesterday's numbers of 3.30 crore. Trade analysts and experts are now assuming Gadar 2 will see a double-digit advance booking.

OMG 2 advance bookings

In the case of the Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer, OMG has sold only 5,500 tickets in three national chains of multiplexes. This is as of August 4. Taran Adarsh shared insights on the numbers. It has sold 2,800 tickets to PVR, 1100 to Cinepolis, and 1,600 to Inox.

OMG 2 has only collected around 70 lakhs (excluding the tickets booked) at the Indian box office. The upcoming mythology drama desperately needs to amp up the numbers.

It is essential for OMG 2 to perform well, as Akshay Kumar has seen back-to-back flops with Selfiee, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Bachchan Panday, and more.
