Govinda Admitted to Hospital After Accidentally Shooting Himself in the Knee

Veteran Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader, Govinda, has been admitted to Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital after an accidental gunshot injury. The 60-year-old actor injured himself with his licenced revolver early in the morning while preparing for a trip to Kolkata. Fortunately, the actor is reported to be stable, with close family and aides assuring fans of his recovery.


Reported Incident Details

The incident took place at 4:45 a.m. when Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata. While handling his licenced revolver, the weapon accidentally discharged, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg. According to initial reports, the bullet struck below his left knee, requiring immediate medical attention. Govinda was quickly rushed to CritiCare Hospital, arriving around 5:15 a.m.

Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, confirmed that the actor is stable and undergoing treatment. His close aide, Shashi Sinha, shared more details about the incident, stating, 'He is out of danger and doing well. He was about to leave for Kolkata when the incident occurred. He was keeping his licenced revolver properly in the almirah when it fell on the ground. While handling the weapon, the bullet accidentally discharged. The injury is below the left knee. The bullet has now been removed. His daughter Tina is present at the hospital. He is talking to everyone and is doing alright.'

Govinda's daughter, Tina Ahuja, also provided an update from the hospital, saying, 'I'm currently with papa in the ICU. I can't talk much right nowhellip but I want to assure that papa's health is much better now. After the bullet injury, papa underwent surgery, and it was successful. All tests have been conducted by doctors, and the reports are good. Papa will remain in the ICU for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, doctors will decide whether to keep papa in the ICU or not. Doctors are continuously monitoring papa's condition there's no need to worry.'

As part of standard procedure, the Mumbai police have seized Govinda's revolver and are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The weapon is licenced, and initial enquiries suggest that the shooting was purely accidental.
