Heeramandi Star Shekhar Suman Takes A Dig At Young Actors, Says "They Want Fame Overnight"

OTT is changing the game for all content lovers by bringing in stories that keep the audience hooked till the very end. One of such stories is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The web series also brings back veteran actor Shekhar Suman to the screens.

The actor, who is busy promoting his upcoming series, sat down for a casual chat with Bollywood Now. In the same interview, he spoke about what makes his generation of actors different from today's era.

For the uninitiated, Shekhar Suman will be playing the role of a menacing Nawab of Heeramandi. The upcoming web series also highlights the relationship between the courtesans and the nawabs.

When Shekhar Suman slammed young actors

During his chat with the entertainment portal, the actor opened up about the shortcomings of today's generation and mentioned how artists strive for overnight fame.

'There are many good things in this era too. But there are also shortcomings. All these new young actors want fame very soon in their lives. They want stardom overnight they want to be seen everywhere everyone should talk about them reels are being made," Shekhar said.

He further added, "Dikh dikh ke pareshaan hai aur log dekh dekh ke pareshaan. They are being spotted at their homes, airports, and gyms. And everywhere they act surprised, like they didn't know people were going to be there, given that those people were called by them.'

Well, we kind of agree with what the Heeramandi star said.

Shekhar Suman's role in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar

The Dekh Bhai Dekh actor will be seen playing the role of Zulfiqar Ahmed, a character of authority who exudes power and sophistication in every step. The OTT release also brings together Shekhar Suman and his son, Adhyayan Suman, for the first time.



In a recent interview with News18, Adhyayan opened up about working with his father and his experience starring in a Bhansali film.

'It has always been my dream to work with my father. And I do share one scene with him in the show. It's a very interesting scene. I can't reveal anything beyond this. But yes, it was very exciting to act with my father,' the actor said.

Heeramandi brings together a spectacular starcast of artists like Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sharmin Sehgal, Manisha Koirala, Farida Jalal, and Fardeen Khan.

It revolves around the pre-partition time of Lahore's infamous red light area, where the courtesans were once the reigning queens. It takes you through the brutal partition and the lives of these divas.

Heeramandi releases on Netflix on May 1.
