Akhil Akkineni has been in the limelight ever since he debuted in his first film as a toddler in 1995, called Sisidri. It was a remake of the 1994 film Baby's Day Out. He is the son of legendary actor Nagarjuna and actor and dancer Amala. Akhil starred in his first lead role as an actor in the film Akhil (2015). However, he didn't enjoy much critical or commercial success with that. His failure at the box office continued until 2021, when his fourth film, Most Eligible Bachelor, became a hit. Again, with the much-awaited Telugu action spy film Agent, expectations were already high. However, the film performed poorly and was met with negative reviews when it was released this year in April. Problems for the film didn't stop there, as now a court order has further delayed its release on the OTT platform Sonyliv.

The distributor of the film started a legal action against the producer, Anil Sunkara, claiming that some terms were not met. Owing to which its release on OTT has been stayed. The film was already facing difficulties finding an OTT release after its performance at the box office. Made at a budget of over 50 crores, it was shot extensively in foreign locations and faced more hurdles due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which delayed its production. It was earlier scheduled to release on December 24, 2021, but got postponed. Later, a new date was announced to be August 12, 2022, but it again got delayed due to issues in the production and some injuries incurred by Akhil. The film also starred veteran actor Mammootty as the RAW chief, as well as Dino Morea, who plays the antagonist.

The film is directed by Surendar Reddy and was stylized as an actioner, with Akhil doing extraordinary stunts and over-the-top action. Upon release, audiences and critics called it off for not being too imaginative while praising the performances of its actors, including that of Akhil. It opened up at the box office at over 5 crore, which decreased heavily in the subsequent days, managing to collect around 10 crores in India.
It remains to be seen now what the fate of the film will be after a long and arduous journey.
