Kalki 2898 AD Trailer Unveils Prabhas as Saviour in Futuristic Action Epic

The wait is finally over for fans of director Nag Ashwin's highly anticipated sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD. The trailer dropped on June 10th, offering a glimpse into a visually stunning and action-packed world set thousands of years in the future. The film boasts a star-studded cast led by Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and promises to be a landmark achievement in Indian science fiction.

Futuristic Action-Thriller with a Mythological Twist

The trailer transports viewers to the year 2898 AD, where humanity struggles for survival in the dystopian city of Kashi, the "first and last city to ever exist." A tyrannical ruler, played by Saswata Chatterjee, reigns supreme, wreaking havoc upon the citizens.

However, hope emerges in the form of a prophecy delivered by Amitabh Bachchan's character, Ashwatthama. He foretells the imminent arrival of a powerful new force, destined to be born from the womb of Padma, played by Deepika Padukone. Notably, the trailer highlights Deepika sporting a baby bump, sparking theories that her unborn child will be the prophesied avatar of Kalki, the tenth incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu.

This isn't the first time Deepika Padukone has portrayed a mother with pivotal significance in a film. She previously played Ranbir Kapoor's mother in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva and Shah Rukh Khan's mother in Jawan.

The trailer depicts the pursuit of Padma and her unborn child by Saswata Chatterjee's evil forces. Ashwatthama joins the fray alongside the seemingly goofy protagonist Bhairava, played by Prabhas, who comes to their rescue. The action sequences are a highlight, showcasing Prabhas's fighting prowess. Intriguingly, the trailer also features a glimpse of Disha Patani engaged in combat with Prabhas, hinting at a complex web of alliances and betrayals.

Adding another layer of mystery is the appearance of Kamal Haasan in an unrecognisable bald avatar. Though the filmmakers haven't confirmed his role, his appearance towards the end of the trailer has sent social media abuzz. His look bears a resemblance to Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, and rumours suggest he might portray the ancient villain, Kamsudu.
