The Malayalam film industry is mourning the sudden loss of Nishadh Yusuf, a respected and talented film editor known for his work on notable projects such as Thallumaala, Chaaver, and the upcoming Kanguva. On the morning of October 30, 2024, the 43-year-old editor was found dead in his apartment in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi. Kanguva Editor Found Dead in Kochi Apartment at 2 AM
According to local reports, Nishadh Yusuf's body was discovered at around 2 am in his apartment. Police have not yet confirmed the cause of death, and no official statements have been released regarding the incident. While authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, one officer mentioned that the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide, though further details were not provided.The Kerala Police are treating this case with caution, keeping all possibilities open. Nishadh Yusuf was widely recognised in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, with numerous acclaimed films to his name. His impressive portfolio includes works such as Thallumaala, Chaaver, Unda, Saudi Vellakka, One, Operation Java, and Bazooka. For his work on Thallumaala, Yusuf was honoured with the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editor in 2022, solidifying his reputation as a top editor in the industry.
At the time of his passing, Yusuf had been deeply involved in several ambitious projects. His most high-profile project, Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, is set for a pan-India theatrical release on November 14, 2024. In addition, he was working on Bazooka, starring Malayalam icons Mohanlal and Mammootty, as well as the project Alappuzha Gymkhana.

FEFKA Mourns Yusuf's Passing
The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) Directors' Union confirmed Yusuf's death and expressed their condolences in a heartfelt social media post, writing, "The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema, is not something the film world will be able to quickly accept. Condolences from FEFKA Directors' Union."Yusuf's contributions to Indian cinema, especially in Malayalam films, have left an indelible mark. His passing is a great loss to the industry and will be felt by colleagues and fans alike.
