Kartik Aaryan Breaks Silence on Dostana 2 Exit and Karan Johar Fallout Rumours

In a recent interview with Lallantop, Kartik Aaryan addressed his much-publicised exit from the film Dostana 2 and the subsequent rumours of a rift with director Karan Johar.

Dostana 2, a sequel to the popular 2008 film, initially cast Kartik Aaryan alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani. However, in a surprising turn of events in 2021, Dharma Productions, the production house behind the film, announced that they would be recasting the project due to "professional circumstances." This statement sparked widespread speculation about a falling out between Aaryan and Johar, with reports suggesting creative differences as a potential reason for the actor's departure.

Aaryan remained tight-lipped on the matter at the time, but in the recent interview, he finally offered some insight. "See, it's been a long time since that happened," he said in Hindi. "Sometimes there's a lot of miscommunication, and things get blown way out of proportion, especially when they're written about. It makes it sound completely different."

Aaryan further clarified that he prefers to avoid controversy and focus on his work. "I stayed silent then, and I'm staying silent now on those things," he said. "I just give my 100 percent to my work. But whenever such news or controversies come up, I retreat into my shell and stay calm. I don't get involved in those things, and proving anything doesn't get me anywhere."

Interestingly, despite the rumoured rift, Dharma Productions announced a new collaboration with Kartik Aaryan in 2023. This upcoming film, directed by Sandeep Modi and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms Ltd., is slated for release in 2025.

In the meantime, Aaryan has his hands full with upcoming releases. His film "Chandu Champion" hits theatres on June 14, and he's also working on "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3" alongside Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan.

While Kartik Aaryan's comments don't definitively settle the rumours surrounding his exit from Dostana 2, they do offer a glimpse into his perspective. He prioritises his work and chooses to remain silent on the matter, perhaps suggesting a desire to move forward.

The upcoming collaboration with Dharma Productions further indicates that the professional bridge between Aaryan and Johar may not be entirely burned.
