AUGUST 27,2024

One of the highest grossing films of 2024, Chandu Champion was surprisingly a gripping movie that yet again proved Kartik Aaryan's mettle as a performer. While the story was the star of the show, he carried the entire message seamlessly with his portrayal of Murlikant Petkar.

For the uninitiated, the movie was based on the real-life events of Murlikant Petkar, a paralympic champion who won a gold for India. Despite his extraordinary achievements in sports, he was a forgotten hero who wasn't given much credit.

On the occasion of Janmashtami 2024, Kartik Aaryan took to Instagram and shared a scene from the movie where he was seen celebrating Dahi Handi in style.

Kartik Aaryan's Dahi Handi story

As the country comes together to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, the actor took to social media and shared a series of images from his latest release that depicted the Dahi Handi sequence.

Wishing his fans on the joyous occasion, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor wrote, "For the first time in my career, I shot a Dahi Handi sequence for #ChanduChampion, and it really is so special.. Felt the energy, the adrenaline, and the spirit of this festival in every moment we captured Happy Janmashtami."

Kartik Aaryan's dramatic transformation for Chandu Champion

To be true to the character he portrayed on screen, the actor underwent a drastic transformation during an 18-month-long bootcamp where he lost a significant amount of body fat.

In an interview, Kartik opened up about what went behind the physical transformation and said, 'A lot of prep was required for the skill sets, for the body transformation, one needs to have a lot of patience, and a lot of mental balance. I had never been in this situation - I was doing romantic films or comedy films. But this was the first time that I was doing something like this where I had to do a war sequence, I had to do wrestling, and whatnot.'

Connecting Chandu Champion's story with his personal journey of making it big in Bollywood, Aaryan reflected on being an outsider and how he climbed up the ladder with his sheer hard work.

'I'm someone who's really come from the outside world. And for me to do a role like this is a dream, and I really related to the one line of the film, which is the man who refused to surrender. So for me, this was actually playing a role of a lifetime,' the actor said, further adding, 'It's like a reward for me playing a role as big as 'Chandu Champion.''

Kartik Aaryan will next be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit. Helmed by Anees Bazmee, the film will release on Diwali.
