Koffee with Karan 8 has become our guilty pleasure, and somehow, we are not even guilty of it. The new episode of the talk show brings together the infamous mother-son duo, who exude royalty in everything they do or say. Gracing the Koffee couch were none other than Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan.
Over the seasons, Koffee With Karan has seen various combinations of guests. Best friends, siblings, colleagues, co-stars, frenemies, and more. What it lacked was a true blue mother-son duo. With its latest episode, the show even checked that duo off the list.
The cosmopolitan Sharmila Tagore and the suave Saif Ali Khan were seen twinning in black. The veteran actress looked gorgeous in a black floral saree, while Saif donned an all-black suit.

While we all know Koffee With Karan has the power to let out some shocking revelations, this new episode was filled with the same. Spilling many beans, Sharmila shared her journey of being diagnosed with cancer and rejecting Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Did you know Shabana Azmi's role in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was originally offered to Sharmila Tagore? Well, the secret was revealed on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, where the host and the film's director shared his regrets about not being able to work with the legendary actress.During the episode, the filmmaker revealed he had originally offered the part of Alia Bhatt's grandmother to Sharmila Ji. However, after she rejected it, it was offered to Shabana Azmi.
Expressing his regret, Karan said, 'I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana Azmi in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She was my very first choice. Due to health reasons at that time, she couldn't say yes, but it is a regret I have.'

Responding to the same, Sharmila Ji recalled the time when she was diagnosed with cancer. Not everybody knows about her diagnosis of the deadly disease.
"This is at the height of COVID. They hadn't really grappled with COVID at that time. They didn't know the vaccine... We were not vaccinated. You know, after my cancer. So, they didn't want me to take that risk," the veteran actress further added.
This is the first time ever that Sharmila mentioned and spoke about her cancer in an interview.
