Mahima Chaudhry Birthday: When Pardes Actress Recalled Battling Breast Cancer

Mahima Chaudhry was one of the sensational actors of the 1990s. She made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan's Pardes. She turns 50 today. While she made some remarkable movies, the actress had to face a major setback when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021.

The Pardes actress made headlines when she opened up about surviving breast cancer. There was a phase when she used to wear wigs and hats after her diagnosis. During the Uunchai screening, Mahima Chaudhry opened up about her struggles battling the deadly cancer.

The viral video shot by Anupam Kher in 2022 was an emotional outburst by the actress as she opened up about hiding her diagnosis from her mother, the tedious process to get rid of cancer, and everything in between. She called it a 'psychological battle.'

"Cancer is very treatable. It scares the shit out of people, but a lot of advances have been made in this field," Mahima said in an interview. She even opened up about how she felt going through the entire process of being cancer-free.

The Dhadkan actress further added, 'I can't even begin to tell you how difficult the treatment was for me. I don't want to talk about that because I don't want people to get rattled by it. It is curable, so I don't want anyone to be afraid of the treatment."

"The process is difficult, so it's good to have supportive people around you, and also, your work helps you get your mind off what's going on with your body," she further added.

Back in 2022, Anupam Kher shared a video of the actress revealing her shaved head. In the video, Mahima is seen sharing her survival story and how she felt when she learned about her diagnosis. It went viral in no time.


The caption of the post read, 'Story of @mahimachaudhry1's courage and cancer: I called Mahima Chaudhry a month ago from the US to play a very important role in my 525th film, The Signature." Our conversation turned to her discovering that she has breast cancer. What followed was this candid conversation between us."

On the work front, the actress will be next seen in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency. The film was earlier slated to release on September 6, however, the makers are awaiting CBFC's nod amid more revisions in the scenes.
