UmaSofia Srivastava, the Indian-Mexican-origin woman in America who was crowned Miss Teen USA last year, resigned from her position recently. In her resignation note, which she shared on her Instagram, UmaSofia cited the reason for her resignation as 'personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organisation.'

Only two days prior to Miss Teen USA, Miss USA Noelia Voigt had also announced her resignation, citing mental health reasons. In her Instagram post, the Miss Teen USA stated, 'I will always look back on my time as Miss NJ Teen USA fondly, and the experience of representing my state as a first-generation Mexican-Indian American at the national level was fulfilling in itself. After careful consideration, I've decided to resign as I find that my personal values no longer fully align with the direction of the organisation.'

Srivastava shared that she's been considering this decision for a while before acting on it. Additionally, she also said that this was not how she'd expected her reign to come to a close.

Due to UmaSofia and Noelia's decision to quit, the issues related to the organisation's toxic work culture and silencing people's opinions have come to light. Earlier this month, Miss USA social media manager Claudia Michelle also resigned from her position. It is believed that these three women have quit the Miss USA organisation for reasons related to a toxic workplace and spreading false news about them. It is being reported that the harassment within the organisation reached a level where UmaSofia's parents stopped Laylah Rose, Miss USA Organisational President, from speaking with their daughter.

It is also believed that, under strict and intrusive social media usage guidelines, Laylah Rose actually took personal control of UmaSofia Srivastava's and Noelia Voigt's social media handles. Voigt stated on her Instagram that her reason for quitting the organisation was because she was being silenced.

More about UmaSofia Srivastava

UmaSofia Srivastava actively works with two charitable organisations, namely the Lotus Petal Foundation and the Bridge of Books Foundation. 'Ultimately, working with these incredible non-profits and seeing the first-hand impact that The White Jaguar has had on the kids and adults I've read it to is what has forged my legacy. This work has always been my TRUE purpose,' she wrote in her resignation note.

Talking about her plans after quitting, Srivastava wrote, 'I look forward to the rest of the year as I finish 11th grade as part of the National Honor Society and start the college application process, knowing that my academic career has been defined by my hard work and my hard work alone.'

'Most importantly, thank you to those who support me for who I am and have always been, not for who I've momentarily become,' she concluded.
