MP Govt Declares Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report Tax Free in All Theatres

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced that the film The Sabarmati Report will be made tax-free in the state. The movie, which revolves around the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, has garnered significant attention for its bold narrative. With this decision, the state aims to encourage more people to watch the film and engage with its powerful message.
MP Chief Minister Applauds the Film
On Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared the film tax-free, stating his admiration for its portrayal of the 2002 Godhra incident. Yadav remarked, 'The Sabarmati Report is a very good movie. I will go to watch the movie myself. I also told my ministers, MLAs and MPs to watch this film. We are also going to make it tax-free in the state so that maximum people can watch it.'The Chief Minister emphasised that the film sheds light on a dark chapter in India's history, asserting that 'the truth will come out through the film.' He accused the opposition of exploiting the Godhra tragedy for political gains, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the Gujarat Chief Minister at the time, protected the state's and the nation's honour.

PM Modi and Amit Shah Commend the Film
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised The Sabarmati Report on social media, hailing it as an essential step in uncovering the truth behind the Godhra tragedy. Modi commented, 'Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out... A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!'Union Home Minister Amit Shah also lauded the film, stating, 'No matter how hard a powerful ecosystem tries, it cannot keep the truth hidden in darkness forever. The film #SabarmatiReport defies the ecosystem with unparalleled courage and exposes the truth behind the fateful episode to broad daylight.'
Additionally, Cabinet Minister Vishvas Sarang supported the film, emphasising its role in revealing the truth about the Godhra incident.

About The Sabarmati Report
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film stars Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, and Raashii Khanna. It recounts the horrific events of February 27, 2002, when the Sabarmati Express was set ablaze near Godhra station in Gujarat, killing 59 people. The incident led to widespread riots, leaving a lasting impact on the nation's history.Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures, along with Amul V. Mohan and Anshul Mohan, the movie has been well received. By its fourth day, the film had earned an estimated 7.45 crore at the Indian box office, signalling a promising run.
