After Rashmika Mandanna's deepfake video went viral, Mrunal Thakur has come out in support of the actress. Yesterday, Amitabh Bachchan expressed his concern over the video and tweeted about it, demanding legal action.
In the original video, Instagram model Zara Patel is seen exiting a lift and then posing for the camera. On her face, Rashmika's face has been morphed using deepfake technology. It is a troubling development in the times of technology that puts anyone's identity under threat.
Mrunal Thakur took to her Instagram stories to express her support for Rashmika. She said, "Shame on people who resort to such things it shows that there's no conscience left at all in such people. Thank you, Rashmika Mandanna, for speaking up and for addressing this issue that so far we have seen glimpses of, but a lot of us chose to remain silent."

Further, Mrunal Thakur added, "Every day there are morphed, edited videos of female actors floating around on the internet zooming into inappropriate body parts. Where are we headed as a community and as a society? We may be actresses in the 'limelight', but at the end of the day, each one of us is human. Why aren't we talking about it? Don't remain silent now is not the time."
Other actors like Naga Chaitanya and singer Chinmayi Sripaada came out in support of Rashmika Mandanna and demanded strict action against the misconduct.
Earlier on Monday evening, Rashmika put out her statement on social media platforms. She said, "I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the fake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly extremely scary, not only for me but also for each one of us who is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused."

She added, "We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft." She even tagged the Twitter handles of the cyber cells of the police.
Rashmika Mandanna will be seen next in Animal, which releases on December 1.
