The excitement surrounding the release of Stree 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy hit, has been overshadowed by a growing controversy. The film's promotional poster has drawn intense scrutiny for its striking resemblance to the poster of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things 2.

The similarities between the two designs are undeniable. Both posters employ a bold colour palette of blue and orange, with the title emblazoned in red. The arrangement of the cast members in a pyramid-like formation, with the lead actor at the apex, is another striking parallel.These visual congruences have ignited a firestorm of criticism on social media, with many netizens accusing the Stree 2 team of blatant plagiarism. "The Stree 2 poster seems to have borrowed heavily from Stranger Things 2," one X user wrote, expressing a sentiment echoed by countless others.
While the accusations of plagiarism are severe, there are those who have defended the Stree 2 poster. Some argue that, given the supernatural themes shared by both properties, certain design overlaps are to be expected. They point out subtle differences, such as the distinct backgrounds, to differentiate the two posters. Stree 2 leads the pre-booking race by a huge margin
Despite the controversy, the hype surrounding Stree 2 remains palpable. However, the film faces competition from Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa, both slated for release on the same day. However, both of these films have been left in the dust in terms of advanced ticket sales numbers. While Vedaa racked up some 10,500+ tickets, Khel Khel Mein managed to sell even less.
