Nushrratt Bharuccha: Felt validated as an actor

After playing the girl-next-door in her films, Raj Mehta's Khilona in the four-part Netflix anthology, Ajeeb Daastaans showcased Nushrratt Bharuccha in a new light. 'The character was a career-high for me. I did this film purely for the joy of it. The feedback I received when the film released filled my heart with gratitude. Now, the respect is on a global scale,' says the actor, who has been nominated in the Best Actor category at the Asian Content Awards held during the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

'Success of any kind validates you as an actor,' says Bharuccha, adding that being nominated among other talented artistes affirms her choices. 'It tells me that I [managed] to cut through the clutter and made a mark of my own. It has set a new benchmark for me. This validation on an international scale kind of backs me and my choice of films in the future.'
