Ponniyin Selvan Trailer: Mani Ratnam`s Opus Magnum Gives A Sneak Peek Into Indian History`s Glory

Ponniyin Selvan 1 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan, this is a period drama that gives us a glorious sneak peek into the Indian history about the Cholamandalam Kingdom. On Wednesday, the makers of the film unveiled the trailer and took internet by strom. Voiced by Kamal Hassan, the movie stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and Sobhita Dhulipala in the lead.
The Ponniyin Selvan 1 trailer starts with a long of of the kingdom and a glance of all the actors in glorified avatars. With several intense fight sequences between Karthi and Jayram Ravi, it ends with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starring at an empty throne.
In the period drama that conveys about the Chola dynasty, Vikram portrays the role of Aditya Arikalan, Aishwarya plays a dual role, while Jayram Ravi headlines the film. ponniyin Selvan also stars Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.
Helmed by Mani Ratnam, the filmmaker has also co-written the script along with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan. Banked by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the music is composed by A.R. Rahman. Ponniyin Selvan was originally intended to be a stand-alone film. However, the makers then decided to split it into two parts, leaving the audience intrigued.
Slated to release on September 30, the pan-Indian film will release in 5 different languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
