Pritish Nandy Death: Kareena Kapoor Mourns Chameli Producer`s Demise

One of the most celebrated producers and filmmakers in Bollywood, Pritish Nandy's sudden death has shocked the entire industry. The heartbreaking news was shared by his good friend and veteran actor Anupam Kher.

It was on Wednesday that Nandy suffered a severe cardiac arrest and breathed his last at his Mumbai residence. As soon as the news broke out, many celebrities took to social media to pay tribute and express their condolences.


Kareena Kapoor, who worked with him in Chameli, took to her Instagram stories and shared a couple of pictures from the sets of the 2003 film. In one of them, she could be seen sitting and chatting with Pritish between the shots. Sharing the same, she added red heart, folded hands, and infinity emojis.

Chameli's director, Sudhir Mishra, also paid tribute to the late producer. Nandy also backed his 2003 political drama Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi.

Taking it to X (formerly Twitter), Mishra wrote, 'Pritish Nandy changed my life. Only he could Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi . He taught me so much. I am so sorry, Pritish Da. I couldn't come up with an idea for the sequel."

Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor mourn Pritish Nandy's death

Among other stars, these two veteran actors took to social media and expressed their condolences. They remembered some fond qualities and memories with the producer.

Sanjay Dutt, who headlined Sanjay Gupta's 2002 action thriller Kaante and Leena Yadav's 2005 psychological drama Shabd, were both backed by Pritish Nandy. 'A true creative genius and a kind soul, you will be missed, sir. #PritishNandy (folded hands),' his tweet on X read.


Anil Kapoor also took to the microblogging platform and wrote, 'Shocked and heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. A fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word, he embodied integrity like no other.'

Who was Pritish Nandy?

He was not only a movie producer but also a celebrated journalist and a media personality. He hosted a talk show in the 1990s on Doordarshan titled The Pritish Nandy Show, where he interviewed several celebrities.

As a film producer, he backed some renowned movies like Kaante, Jhankaar Beats, Chameli, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi.

However, Pritish Nandy's career was beyond entertainment. He also served as a Rajya Sabha member from 1998 to 2004 and represented the Shiv Sena party.
