India's badminton star PV Sindhu began a new chapter in her life as she tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai in a grand yet intimate ceremony on December 22. The beautiful wedding took place at the luxurious Raffles Resort in Udaipur, marking the union of two prominent families in a stunning Telugu-style ceremony.

A Grand Celebration in Udaipur

The festivities kicked off on December 20 with a lively Sangeet ceremony. The following day, traditional rituals such as Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi set the tone for the grand wedding. The morning of December 22 saw the couple exchange vows in the presence of close family and friends.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, who attended the event, shared the first picture of the couple, writing, 'Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes amp blessings to the couple for their new life ahead.'

For her special day, Sindhu looked radiant in a cream-coloured saree, while her groom complemented her in a matching cream sherwani. The couple is set to host a reception in Hyderabad, Sindhu's hometown, on December 24.

Sindhu's father revealed that the two families have known each other for years. The couple chose the date strategically, ensuring it did not conflict with Sindhu's packed training and competitive schedule for 2024.

Venkata Datta Sai, an entrepreneur based in Hyderabad, serves as the Executive Director of Posidex Technologies. Known for his reserved nature, he has largely stayed away from the limelight, making the wedding a truly personal affair.

PV Sindhu's Stellar Career

PV Sindhu is one of India's most celebrated athletes. She boasts five World Championship medals, including a historic gold in 2019, and is the first Indian woman to achieve this feat. Sindhu also earned an Olympic silver at Rio 2016 and a bronze at Tokyo 2020.

In 2024, she ended her BWF World Tour campaign on a high note, clinching victory at the Syed Modi India International badminton tournament. This was her first BWF World Tour title since the Singapore Open in July 2022. Despite reaching the finals of the Spain Masters and Malaysia Masters, she had narrowly missed out on victory.

As PV Sindhu embarks on this new journey, Radio City wishes her happiness both on and off the court.
