Multiplexes are coming up with many new ways to bring audiences back to theaters in large numbers with the outset of OTT platforms. PVR INOX has now launched a monthly pass that people can avail of to watch over 10 films in a month for just Rs 699.
With National Cinema Day organized by all multiplexes with the same motive of making people come to the cinema, PVR INOX looks to capitalize more with this monthly pass. The subscription can be started on October 16, and it comes with some terms.
This offer is applicable only from Monday to Thursday and doesn't include premium services like IMAX, Gold, LUXE, and Director's Cut. The PVR INOX monthly pass can be taken for a minimum period of 3 months. More details are available on their website.
According to their CEO, Gautam Dutta, they did a survey with consumers to understand their movie-watching practices. In the survey, it was noted that while people love to watch movies and come to theaters, it becomes impossible for them to watch every film in multiplexes. With the tickets of multiplexes surging on the higher side, more often, audiences choose which films are worthy for the theaters.

According to people, big films like Jawan, Pathaan, Gadar 2, and Leo are all landmark films that demand a theater experience. However, other films can be watched from the comfort of homes on small screens.
In order to bridge this gap, they came up with the idea of a monthly pass where people can come to the theaters each week to see what they want to see. This move will surely fare better for independent films that don't usually find an audience as people decide to watch them later.
With more than 10 films releasing every week, this will push people to come to watch all sorts of films and enjoy the spectacle on the big screen. It remains to be seen now how this monthly pass is used by people.
MUBI has a similar pass system where the user gets one film screening free for each month. PVR INOX has taken a step higher and covered more.
