On the occasion of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's 141st birth anniversary, actor Randeep Hooda paid tribute by visiting the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where the freedom fighter was sentenced to two life terms, totaling fifty years of imprisonment. This historical visit comes after Hooda's portrayal of Savarkar in the biographical film "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar."

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, an influential and contentious figure in India's struggle for independence, was incarcerated in the Cellular Jail, also known as 'Kala Pani.' His imprisonment is a significant chapter in India's fight against British colonial rule. The jail, now a national memorial, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters like Savarkar.

Hooda's connection to Savarkar's story deepened through his role in the biopic. "After studying Savarkar ji's entire story and trying to live his life and portray it on screen, I became very involved in it," Hooda stated.

He expressed profound gratitude for the positive feedback he received from those who personally knew Savarkar, including the Mangeshkar family. Randeep Hooda talks about the challenge of biographical cinema

Hooda highlighted the difficulty of condensing Savarkar's extensive 53-year life into a three-hour film, a common challenge in biographical filmmaking. The movie, which premiered on ZEE5 on May 28, aims to provide a comprehensive view of Savarkar's contributions and ideologies.

"Often, when you make biopics, the close ones of the person say you didn't include this or show that. But I tried to encapsulate his entire 53-year life in 3 hours," Hooda emphasised.
