As the movie continues to receive rave reviews, speculation is that the actor will be replacing Shah Rukh Khan in the third installment of Don. Well, Farhan Akhtar has cleared the air and confirmed Ranveer Singh will play the new gangster in Don 3.

The filmmaker shared the teaser for Don 3, which revealed Ranveer Singh as the new Don. The RRKPK actor has big shoes to fill as he replaces the original Don Shah Rukh Khan. On Twitter, Farhan Akhtar shared the Don 3 teaser and 'A New Era Begins #Don3.'
Ranveer Singh is the new Don
The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor has now taken the internet by storm as he will be the next target of '11 Mulkon Ki Police." Don 3 will be directed by Farhan Akhtar himself.The Don 3 teaser begins with Ranveer Singh sitting with his back facing the camera. He is seen wearing a leather jacket and leather boots and smoking a cigarette before he turns to the camera and introduces himself as Don.

On Tuesday, the filmmaker shared a rather long note on how Ranveer will start the new era of the Don franchise. Farhan Akhtar's note read, 'It was 1978 when the nation witnessed the rage of Don for the first time, with superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead. About Don
Farhan Akhtar and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani officially purchased the original rights to the Amitabh Bachchan-led Don, which was released in 1978. He went on to remake the movie with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The first part of Don was released in 2006.He went on to make the second installment with the same cast in 2011. Don 2 also featured Boman Irani in a prominent role. Hrithik Roshan made a special appearance in the film.
