RM, the leader of the global K-pop sensation BTS, made a significant mark in the film industry with the premiere of his first ary, RM: Right People, Wrong Place. The ary, based on RM's second solo album of the same name, debuted at the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on October 7, 2024. Despite heavy rain and RM's absence due to his mandatory military service, the film garnered significant attention and support from fans and the industry alike.

A Personal Glimpse Into RM's Life

The ary, which chronicles the creation of RM's second solo album, was praised for offering a deeply personal and emotional insight into the artist's life. BIFF described the film as, 'This ary chronicles the making of BTS leader RM's second solo album, Right People, Wrong Place. It tells the story of the final chapter of his twenties as he prepares for mandatory military service and offers a deeply personal glimpse into the life of Kim Nam-joon. It is a chronicle of youth, spanning from February 8, 2023, to November 10, 2023, with each section dated like a journal entry, ing the progress of Team RM's project. The film follows him as he travels to places where no one recognises him, and the photographer captures him just as he is.'

The film was showcased in the prestigious Open Cinema section, making it the first K-pop ary ever invited to this category at BIFF. The section is known for premiering unique and impactful films that connect deeply with both audiences and critics. This film marks a unique chapter in RM's career, blending music and cinema to offer fans a personal and artistic journey that will resonate deeply across the world.

Director Lee described the ary as "a deep record of RM's inner self and a reflection of emotions that everyone has felt at some point in life." He added, 'This film was made in nine months, which can be a short time, but actually it took me a long time, as it delves into RM's deep inner self.'

Despite torrential rains, the premiere at BIFF's outdoor theatre saw fans and audiences braving the weather to support RM and the film. Their dedication was a testament to RM's immense popularity and the strong bond he shares with his fans.
