Samantha Prabhu To Take Treatment For Myositis In US And South Korea, Will be On A Year-Long Break

Apart from being an incredible performer, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a fighter too. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis in 2022. In layman's language, Myositis is a condition where the body's immune system attacks itself, causing muscle and joint swelling.
Amidst the entire development, the actress has decided to go on a year-long break to be treated for the same.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu wrapped up the shooting for the Indian adaptation of the US show Citadel. It also features Varun Dhawan in the titular role. The original series was headlined by Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu will take a break
The Shaakuntalam actress has decided to take a year-long break and step back in her career. She is going to focus on her health and will undergo treatment for Myositis in the USA and South Korea.
A source close to Samantha made some interesting revelations about her future plans. Reportedly, the actress is not signing any projects.
The source said, "A few months back, Samantha decided that she would be taking a break from acting and was just waiting to wrap up her projectsmdashKushiwith Vijay Deverakonda and the Indian segment ofCitadelwith Varun Dhawan. When I checked with her a few months ago, she told me that she was not signing any projects currently."

The source also addressed concerns about Samantha returning money to the producers for the project she has already signed and added, "This is a bit of an assumption and an exaggeration because she decided to take a break some time ago and was not even accepting anything. There is no new project with which her name was associated."
It was in 2022 when the Yashoda actress opened up about being diagnosed with Myositis, a rare autoimmune condition. Now, she wants to focus on recovering in a holistic manner before resuming work.
"She is taking a break as she wants to focus on her health. She just came back because of her commitments. She was in the middle of the shooting ofKushiwhen she fell ill. Now, she has to go for the main treatment and therapy session," the source further added.
The source further revealed that Samantha would leave for the US in August.
"The break will be for at least a year. She is dealing with an autoimmune disease, which is not simple. There are long treatment and therapy sessions on the card. She will go to the US for the treatment and is expected to visit South Korea as well for treatment purposes," added the source.
Samantha Prabhu's reaction to taking a break
The South diva is known for being a workaholic. Despite the turmoil in her love life, Samantha has rarely taken any days off from work. However, she is not unhappy about taking a break.

"It is something that she wants for her well-being. She wants to get better in a more holistic way. When I spoke to her about her decision, she confessed that she was looking forward to the break. Unless her health is fully recovered, it will be difficult for her to resume work and continue acting, which is a demanding job. She knows that, due to which she is happy about the break," the source concluded.
