Shah Rukh Khan Reveals How Gauri Khan`s Career As An Interior Designer Started By Designing Mannat

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are one of the ideal couples of Bollywood. However, they are rarely seen giving interviews together. While one is an ace designer, the other charms us with his spectacular acting skills. On Tuesday evening, Gauri launched her latest book at an exclusive book launch event. Several media and press personnel were present there.

After the book launch, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan sat down and addressed the media. While some asked Gauri about her passion, it was obvious that personal questions about the superstar and his wife were meant to top the list.

During the media interaction, the actor revealed how Gauri's passion and career as an interior designer started by designing their luxurious home Mannat. Smiling at her, SRK called his wife the 'Captain' of the house as well as the one who designed it.

Shah Rukh Khan Recalls Asking Gauri Khan To Design Mannat

For those who are unaware, King Khan bought his dream house back in 2001. It was originally named ''Villa Vienna'. The superstar then renamed it Mannat. After gaining a decent stardom in Indian cinema, Shah Rukh purchased the property, however, when it came to designing the same, it went beyond the actor's budget.

"When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our being from Delhi, one was used to living in bungalows. But in Mumbai, apartments are even more expensive. As soon as we mustered up some money, we managed to buy this bungalow. It was beyond our means, but we bought it. We didn't have the money to design it then. We called a designer and the money that the person quoted was beyond my salary," said the Pathaan actor.

SRK further added, "So I asked Gauri to design it. That's how the journey started. We build the house by buying all the small things needed to build a house. It took a while, but we did it. For her to do this at such a young age also helped her to learn. For me, now it's very nice that I don't have to look for another designer. It's easier to discuss what we want. We want things to be clean and nice."

On The Work Front

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in mega-blockbuster Pathaan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The Yash Raj Films' spy drama went on to break several records at the box office. Pathaan marked his fantastic comeback after a four-year-long hiatus.


He will be next seen in Atlee's Jawan co-starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Sanya Malhotra. He also has Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki in the pipeline. The movie also features Taapsee Pannu in a prominent role.

Apart from this, Shah Rukh is in talks with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for Don 3. He will also be seen in playing a phenomenal cameo in Salman Khan's Tiger 3.
