It is that time of the year when we unveiled the highest-paying celebrities of 2024. While some names were pretty obvious and expected, there are new and unexpected additions to the list that will shock you.

For the uninitiated, Akshay Kumar has been one of the highest-paying actors from the past few years, followed by actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.

What's changed this year is we see some incredible actresses who have also entered the highest taxpayer's list. The amount of tax they have paid is beyond what their films must've earned on the first day.

Highest taxpaying celebrities of 2024

Shah Rukh Khan tops the chart of the highest tax-paying celebrity individuals in India for the financial year 2023-24. The actor has had a terrific year after delivering back-to-back mega blockbusters like Jawan, Pathaan, and Dunki in 2023.

Reportedly, the actor took a part of profits as his professional fees. With all three films garnering exceptional box office collections, his earnings shot up exponentially as well.

Apart from this, the actor also earned a huge amount from his brand endorsements and businesses. The Badshaah of Bollywood, whose films grossed over INR 2000 crore globally, paid 92 crore as tax. With this, he has become the highest tax-paying celebrity individual in the country, as per a Fortune India report.

Following closely by the superstar is Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay. The actor, who became the highest paid actor in Tamil cinema, had a sensational year with his film Leo releasing last year.

The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) star paid a whopping tax of INR 80 crore for the financial year 2023-24. His latest release is all set to break multiple box-office records.

Salman Khan ranks third on the list as he pays a shocking amount of Rs. 75 crore as tax this year. Despite having a rather quieter year at the box office this year, the actor made it to the highest taxpayer's list. His earnings were those from film ventures, television appearances, and brand endorsements.

The top 20 women in Bollywood

While no female celebrity secured a spot at the top 10 list, Kareena Kapoor became the first actress to become the highest taxpayer to pay Rs. 20 crore.

Her films, endorsements, and business ventures have paid monstrous amounts of taxes, surpassing her peers like Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt.


Following the Jaane Jaan actress is Kiara Advani, who paid 12 crore, and Katrina Kaif, at 11 crore, thus becoming the only three female celebrities to feature on the highest taxpayers of this financial year.
