Suniel Shetty Says He Has Compromised With The Quality Of Vegetables Amid A Price Hike In Tomatoes

Suniel Shetty is one of those actors who is calculative about his diet. Being a Shetty, he is a foodie, but a conscious one. He prefers organic produce over canned goods. Amid the price hike in tomatoes, the Hera Pheri actor opens up about how inflation also affects celebrities, especially restaurant owners.

In a recent interview, Suniel Shetty talked about the skyrocketing prices' of tomatoes. He says everybody has the notion that these price hikes do not affect superstars. Breaking the myth, the actor also revealed how he loves growing fruits and vegetables at his Khandala farmhouse.


Early last year, Shetty gave a glimpse of his Khandala farmhouse, Jahaan. He said the dining room, like every Mangalorean's, is his favorite space as he loves to eat.

Suniel Shetty gets candid on the tomato price hike

Speaking with a news portal, Suniel Shetty said, 'My wife Mana only buys vegetables for one or two days we believe in eating fresh produce. The prices for tomatoes are skyrocketing these days, and this has affected our kitchen as well. I eat fewer tomatoes these days. People might think that since I'm a superstar, these things wouldn't affect me. But that isn't true we have to deal with such issues as well.'

The Main Hoon Na actor also opened up on why he believes in buying groceries, fruits, and vegetables from one certain delivery app. He also pointed out the rise in the price of tomatoes. In today's time, Tomatoes are priced at Rs. 140/kg in Mumbai.


"If you look at the prices on these apps, you'll be shocked. They're cheaper than all the shops and markets. I order from the app, but not because it's cheaper, but because they sell fresh produce. I am also a restaurateur, and I've always bargained for the best prices. But with rising prices for tomatoes, people have had to compromise on taste and quality. I have too," said Suniel Shetty.

The prices of tomatoes in metropolitan cities are 15 times what they used to be. In May, tomatoes used to be priced at Rs. 10 per kg. The inflation in prices is alarming and worrisome, even for celebrities who live a lavish lifestyle.

Suniel Shetty was last seen in Amazon Mini TV's Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega. The series also starred Esha Deol, Rahul Dev, and Barkha Bisht in prominent roles. The actor is busy shooting for Hera Pheri 3, the infamous sequel to the cult classic comedy.

Hera Pheri 3 brings back Suniel Shetty as Shyam, one of his most beloved characters. The movie also stars Akshay Kumar (Raju) and Paresh Rawal (Baburao Apte) in the lead roles.
