Surya Kiran Death: Satyam Movie Writer BVS Ravi Mourns Telugu Director`s Demise

On March 11, Telugu director Surya Kiran passed away after suffering from jaundice. The 51-year-old was admitted to Chennai's GEM hospital after he complained of feeling unwell. He breathed his last at his residence in Chennai.

As per sources, he had been battling jaundice for quite some time now. It is believed that he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai before succumbing to the disease. Surya Kiran was planning to make his directorial comeback with the film Arasi.

PRO Suresh announced the shocking news on Monday and said, "Director #SuryaKiran has passed away due to jaundice. He directed Telugu films like Satyam, Raju Bhai, and a few others. He was also a former contestant on Biggboss Telugu. Om Shanti."

His sudden demise comes as a shock to the entire film industry. Many celebrities from the Telugu, Tamil, Kannanda, and Malayama industries expressed their condolences. One of them was the acclaimed writer BVS Ravi.

Satyam writer BVS Ravi mourns Surya Kiran's death

The Telugu writer made his debut in the industry with Satyam, which also happens to be Surya Kiran's directorial debut. Ravi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed his grief.

Recalling his fond memories from the sets of Satyam, BVS Ravi tweeted, 'Remembering some career-defining moments when working for my debut film Sathyam as a writer... Rest in peace.'

A film studio founded by Akkineni Nageswara Rao named Annapurna Studios also took to social media and mourned the director's death. This is the same studio where Satyam was shot.

"Our journey together for Satyam was special. May your soul rest in peace, Surya KiranGaru. Strength to the family," read the tweet. Have a look.

Although he is widely known for his directorial masterpieces like Satyam, Dhana 51, Raju Bhai, and Brahmastram, among others, Surya Kiran was also a celebrated actor.

He started his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor. He went on to work in over 200 movies in his early years before donning the director's hat.

His first project as a filmmaker was the 2003 release Satyam, starring Sumanth and Genelia D'Souza. It went on to become a monstrous blockbuster at the box office.

The last project he worked on was Arasi, headlined by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The shooting of the film is complete and will be released soon. Unfortunately, Surya Kiran won't be around to celebrate its success.
