The Ambanis Kick Off Wedding Festivities with Mameru Ceremony

The much-anticipated wedding of Anant Ambani, son of India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, and his longtime sweetheart Radhika Merchant, is inching closer. The couple's pre-wedding celebrations began with a traditional Gujarati ceremony called the 'Mameru' held at the Ambani residence, Antilia, on Wednesday evening.

A Night of Celebration and Blessings

The grand Ambani residence was decked out for the occasion, adorned with vibrant hues of red, pink, and orange flowers. Strings of golden lights twinkled throughout, adding a touch of glamour to the joyous event. A digital screen with caricatures of the soon-to-be-wed couple and a heartwarming message of "All the best" served as a visual token of love and well wishes.

Guests, dressed in outfits that complemented the vibrant theme, added to the festive atmosphere. Women dazzled in shades of pink, red, and orange, while men sported traditional attire in similar colour palettes. A video from the ceremony captured the joyous spirit of the night. Family members were seen enjoying themselves, with Isha Ambani's baby daughter, Aadiyashakti, dancing with delight. Kokilaben Ambani, the family matriarch, beamed throughout the evening, while Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani were spotted seated together, their faces reflecting pride and happiness for their son.

The Mameru ceremony, a significant tradition in Gujarati weddings, signifies the blessings bestowed upon the couple by the bride's maternal uncle. In this instance, close relatives from Nita Ambani's side came together to shower blessings and gifts on Anant and Radhika. The bride is usually presented with a traditional Panetar saree, beautiful jewellery, and ivory or white chura (bangles). The gifts also include a selection of sweets and dry fruits.

The ceremony itself was an intimate affair, but glimpses shared online offered a peek into the heartwarming event. Anant and Radhika were seen seated next to each other, radiating pure joy. The bride looked stunning in a pink and orange lehenga, accessorised with traditional jhumkas, a maang-teeka, and a delicate necklace. Anant complemented his fianceacutee's attire with a similar-coloured, elegant pyjama set.

Celebrity sightings at Anant and Radhika's Mameru ceremony

The Mameru ceremony also saw a fair share of celebrity guests. Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor arrived with her boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya. Janhvi looked resplendent in a vibrant orange and pink lehenga, and she was even seen sharing a warm hug with the groom. Shikhar's brother, Veer Pahariya, who is set to debut in the film 'Skyforce,' was also spotted arriving at the event.

Celebrity hairstylist Orry (Orhan Awatramani) was seen thoroughly enjoying the festivities, even taking a turn at playing the dhol. Actress Manushi Chhillar graced the occasion with her presence, looking elegant in a stunning tangerine saree.

Wedding Preparations in Full Swing

The Mameru ceremony marks the beginning of a series of celebrations leading up to the grand wedding on July 12th. The wedding will take place at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, promising to be a lavish affair. Preceding the wedding is a grand sangeet ceremony scheduled for July 5th at the NMACC centre, which can accommodate around 2,000 guests.
