The Dirty Picture Sequel: Either Of These Two Bollywood Actresses To Replace Vidya Balan

The Dirty Picture was one of Bollywood's boldest movies. Starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, and Naseeruddin Shah in lead, the movie revolves around how a small-town girl becomes a successful actress and how her life changes drastically. If rumors were to be believed, the makers are in process to make the movie's sequel. However, unlike the first one which was based on the life of Silk Smitha, the Dirty Picture 2 is expected to have a completely different plotline.

But here's a twist - The Dirty Picture 2 will not have Vidya Balan in the lead. Kriti Sanon or Taapsee Pannu are being considered to play the lead.

A source close to the makers said, "Producer Ekta Kapoor has been planning a sequel to The Dirty Picture for a long time. And she has finally cracked an idea after exploring dozens of them over the years. Screenplay writer Kanika Dhillon, who's known for writing critically-acclaimed female-led stories such as Manmarziyaan,Haseen Dillruba,Judgementall Hai Kya, andRashmi Rocket, among others, has been brought on board to pen this film. She is writing the script along with a male writer, and is expected to finish it by year's end. Ekta and her team at Balaji Motion Pictures are excited about this project, and plan to take it to the floors in the first quarter of 2023.'

Having said that, the writer of the prequel Rajat Arora will not be a part of this project. The source also revealed that Kriti Sanon and Taapsee Pannu have shown interest on playing the lead in The Dirty Picture 2. "Ekta wanted to cast Kangana Ranaut, but she has politely turned down the offer as she doesn't want to disturb her righteous image. Taapsee, Kriti, and others have expressed their interest, but Ekta has requested them to wait until the writing is finished," the source further added.

With Milan Luthria helming the first one, it is yet to be confirmed if he will be directing the sequel or not.
