While many docu-series on OTT platforms give you an intriguing and interesting perspective on what must have happened, others end up at the Bombay High Court desk. We are talking about the Netflix docu-series, Indrani Mukerjea Murder Case: The Buried Truth. The series was scheduled to premiere on February 23.

However, the Bombay high court has ordered Netflix to halt the controversial docu-series and hold a special screening of the Sheena Bora murder case for the Central Bureau of Investigation. The OTT platform said it won't release the ary on Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused, until February 29.

The docu-series titled Indrani Mukerjea Murder Case: The Buried Truth claims to reveal new and surprising elements in the disappearance of Sheena Bora. It was supposed to stream from February 23 onwards on Netflix.

Why was the Indrani Mukerjea Story Case release put on hold?

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had objected to the release of the real-life docu-series on Netflix as it could possibly affect the investigation of one of the most controversial murder cases in India. It could also influence people's perceptions, which eventually could affect the outcome.

A bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Manjusha Deshpande directed the makers of the docu-series to hold a special screening of Indrani Mukerjea Murder Case: The Buried Truth and posted the matter for next Thursday.

In the docu-series, the prime suspect, Indrani Mukerjea, will speak about her point of view, dig deeper into the disappearance of Sheena Bora, and its aftermath on her life.

It was last month when Netflix announced the release date of the murder-mystery docu-series and wrote, "A sensational scandal that rocked the entire nation, with one family's darkest secrets at the center of it all. The Indrani Mukerjea Story Buried Truth, coming on February 23 only on Netflix!"

What was the Indrani Mukerjea Story case?

A 24-year-old woman named Sheena Bora mysteriously disappeared on April 24, 2012. It was later found that she was murdered in Mumbai. She was the daughter of media executives Indrani Mukerjea and Siddharth Das.

However, for most of her life, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, with Indrani posing as her sister.

While everything was going fine, the case came to light in 2015 when Indrani's driver, Shyamvar Rai, confessed her involvement in Sheena Bora's murder. His confession led to several arrests, including those of Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and her then husband, Peter Mukerjea.

The investigation uncovered a complicated and shocking web of lies, deceit, and family dynamics. It was then found out that the purpose of the murder was reportedly financial and personal disputes over property and relationships.

The Sheena Bora murder case became the most discussed topic due to the involvement of prominent people.
