Vijay Deverakonda Breaks Silence On Liger Failure: It Hurts When A Film Doesn`t Work

Vijay Deverakonda is all set to make a glorious theatrical comeback with Kushi. This time, he will be seen playing a quintessential boy-next-door in the upcoming romantic comedy. The movie also features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who will play his love interest. While fans are waiting for Vijay to give a solid hit, they haven't forgotten what a disaster Liger was.

In a recent interview, Vijay Deverakonda opened up about Liger's failure and how he coped with it. This is not the first time the actor has seen a downfall in his career. Liger also featured Ananya Panday in the titular role.

Despite being backed by Dharma Productions, the movie had one of the most disastrous runs at the box office. The action drama was set against the backdrop of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). The movie also stars Mike Tyson as a ruthless MMA fighter who challenges Vijay Deverakonda to defeat him. However, the film failed to entice the audience.

The Arjun Reddy actor opened up about the movie's downfall and got candid about how he dealt with it. In a recent interview, Deverakonda said he has experienced many flops in his career, and Liger is not the first one.

"It does hurt when a film doesn't work. I have experienced many flops in the past, andLiger is not the first one. I have also had many hits before. I will continue to experience both flops and hits because ultimately we are trying to tell stories. I am not afraid of failure. Even though it hurts when a film doesn't work, it doesn't stop me from trying again. I am not afraid of stumbling," said the actor.


Vijay Deverakonda further added to his love for storytelling. He said, "My ambition is always to pursue something creative, and my lifestyle is to be wholeheartedly committed to it."

Liger was directed by Puri Jagannadh, who brought together an ensemble of the South Indian and Bollywood industries in an attempt to deliver a massive hit. However, the movie only managed to collect Rs. 60.80 crore against a budget of Rs. 125 crore.
