When Ileana D`Cruz Got Candid About Going Through Post-Partum Depression

Last year, Ileana D'Cruz took the internet by storm after announcing her sudden pregnancy. While fans thought she was enjoying her single life, it turns out the actress was secretly dating her mystery man. On April 18, 2023, Ileana shocked everyone as she announced the good news.
While some congratulated her for the joyous occasion, others questioned Ileana D'Cruz about the father of her child. She kept mum all the while until one fine day when she revealed a blurry picture of her boyfriend, Michael Dolan.
On August 1, the Barfi actress welcomed her first child, Koa Phoenix Dolan, and he is the most adorable munchkin we've seen. Now, Ileana opened up for the first time in an interview and spoke on various topics, including her son, her partner, and how postpartum depression is real.

In an exclusive interview with Times Entertainment, the Main Tera Hero actress candidly spoke about her personal life and how it has all changed ever since she became a mom.Talking about how 2023 was all about being pregnant, Ileana said, 'Last year went by so quickly. I found out I was pregnant by the end of November 2022.'

She further added, 'Most of 2023 was around my pregnancy and moving base here (the US). I am very thankful to my mom for being there for me I couldn't have done anything without her."
Ileana further revealed her pregnancy wasn't as smooth as it looked on social media. She had complications throughout. While she was hoping to work throughout her trimesters, doctors advised her otherwise.
"I had a few complications (with pregnancy), so I had to take it easy. I thought I would work during my pregnancy, but my doctors asked me to rest it out. It was just a big happy bubble for me. It is just crazy how much your life shifts when you have a child,' she added.

The actress also openly spoke about battling with post-partum depression, a syndrome commonly seen in new moms, especially after delivering their child. She credited her partner, Michael Dolan, for being supportive.'Postpartum depression is very real, and nothing can prepare you for it. I am glad that I had a good support system at home and a team of doctors who took good care of me. Topics like mom guilt are so real. I remember I was in my room, and I started crying," she said.

Ileana continued, My partner asked me what was wrong, and I told him, 'I know it sounds really stupid, but my son is sleeping in the other room, and I am missing him.' So, there are these intense emotions you go through after having a baby. I still am going through it."
Crediting her partner, she said, "I am thankful that Mike (Michael Dolan) is such an amazing partner. I don't need to explain things to him. He makes me take a break and looks after the baby before I join in again."
