If we have to name one singer who redefined our childhood with soulful songs, Lucky Ali would top the list. With ruling both Bollywood and independent scenes, the singer's 'Hmmmm' is enough to give us goosebumps and take us down the nostalgic ride.

But did you know Lucky Ali was also an actor who has acted in several Bollywood movies? Yes, you read that right. And if you're wondering why he'd ever quit movies, he spills some beans about the same.

Why did Lucky Ali quit Bollywood?

For the uninitiated, the singer has acted in movies like Sur, Kaante, and Kasak, among others. However, his stint with acting was a pretty short one.

A while back in an interview, he was asked why he quit acting in Bollywood movies. Being absolutely blunt about his experience in the Hindi film industry, he pointed out the dirty games and lack of sensible content.

'Is jagah mein badtameezi bahut hai? (This place has a lot of disrespect). Bollywood has changed. The movies that are being made these days are lacking inspiration, and I think there is nothing to learn from such movies," he said.

The Safarnama singer further added, 'This generation's movies are leaving a bad impact on society. People are getting violent as they are inspired by what is being showcased in the movies. I believe less patience and more greediness is being promoted through movies,' thus taking a dig at Bollywood's influence on society.

Why does Lucky Ali don't sing Bollywood songs anymore?

While the millennials may know him as the classic 90's pop singer, Ali has also sung some spectacular Bollywood songs. He started with Naa Tum Jaano Naa Hum from Kaho Na... Pyaar Hai and ended his stint with the recent track, Tu Hai Kahaan from Do Aur Do Pyaar.

However, his voice isn't heard frequently in films. When asked about the same, the indie singer revealed how Bollywood songs and the truth in music don't go hand-in-hand.

'I just do my work the way I feel it. If I want to make a mistake in it but it is something that agrees with my vibe, I would go ahead and do that and then deal with it later on. Many of our songs, if you have noticed, have a very Indian feel, and all of a sudden we are doing grooves that are very broad,' Lucky Ali said.

He further added, 'That's the music part, but what you say is very important to me. I don't want to say something for the sake of saying it, it has to actually mean to me what I am trying to express. That's why I don't do Bollywood tracks and movies because I'm not speaking the truth in them.'

In the midst of all this typical Bollywood chaos, let's not forget today Lucky Ali turns a year older. As the indie singer celebrates his 66th birthday today, we wish him a very happy birthday.
