The legendary Indian industrialist who revolutionized the country's way of doing business with his creative mind breathed his last on late Wednesday night. While the nation continues to mourn Tata's death, people also wonder who will inherit the 3,800 crore-worth Tata empire.

The revered business tycoon and philanthropist passed away at 86 on Wednesday, October 9, after suffering from a prolonged illness. He left behind a significant legacy that shaped India's economic background.

His contribution to the world of entrepreneurship and social causes is undefinable. After Ratan Tata's passing, the question that arises is who will lead the humongous empire, especially in the absence of a direct heir.

Looking at Tata's family chart, fingers are somehow pointing to Noel Tata, the late businessman's half brother and a great contributor to the Tata Empire.

With the vast group of empires, its succession has always been a question. In normal cases, the decedent's direct heir would take the throne. However, Rata Tata never married or adopted kids.

In 2017, N. Chandrasekaran was appointed as the CEO of Tata Sons. Apart from this, other family members are overlooking and managing the operations of other divisions of the Tata conglomerate.

On the day of Ratan Tata's passing, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi spoke to Noel Tata and expressed his condolences. From the ministry, it will be Union Home Mnister Amit Shah to attend the funeral.

Modi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed his tribute to the iconic business tycoon, calling him a compassionate soul and a visionary business leader.

"Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India's oldest and most prestigious business houses," the PM tweeted.

The tweet further read, "At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to making our society better."
