This is the year of celebrating love, laughter, families, and a happily ever after. Speaking of family, celebrity couple Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar welcomed their first child, a baby boy whom they named Vedavid. The two revealed their pregnancy during the Article 370 trailer launch in February this year, taking the fans by surprise.

For the uninitiated, the couple tied the knot in 2021 in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family. They first met on the sets of URI: The Surgical Strike, a film directed by Aditya Dhar.

Sharing the great news on social media, Yami Gautam revealed the name of her son, who was born on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

On Monday, the actress-director couple took to Instagram and shared the great news with their fans and followers. The post revealed that the new mom in Tinseltown gave birth to her son on Akshaya Tritiya (May 10).

Giving a happy start to the week, they shared a joint post on Instagram that read, 'We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our beloved son, Vedavid, who graced us with his birth on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya. Please shower him with all your kind blessings and love.'

For those wondering what Vedavid means, it comes from a deeper spiritual aspect. According to the Hindu scripture Shiva Puran, Veda means 'someone who is well versed with Vedas' while Vid stands for 'knowledge.'

Vedavid is also considered to be one of Lord Vishnu's many names.

In the caption, the new parents penned down a heartfelt note and thanked all the medical professionals who took proper care of the expecting mother. Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar welcomed their baby at Chembur's Surya Hospital.

Their caption read, "We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptionally dedicated and wonderful medical professionals at Surya Hospital, especially Dr. Bhupender Awasthi and Dr. Ranjana Dhanu, whose expertise and tireless efforts made this joyous occasion possible.'

'As we embark on this beautiful journey of parenthood, we eagerly anticipate the bright future that awaits our son. With every milestone he achieves, we are filled with the hope and belief that he will grow to become a beacon of pride for our entire family as well as our beloved nation,' the couple further added.

Yami Gautam on embracing motherhood

Yami and Aditya tied the knot in June 2021 in a rather intimate ceremony. They were just surrounded by 20 odd people at the Vicky Donor actress's family home in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

The actress, who is known to be tight-lipped about her personal life, opened up about embracing motherhood and shared her excitement in an old interview.


Speaking to the Hindustan Times, the new mommy said, 'We were jumping with joy and emotion. Now we can't wait.'

'You are never prepared for a moment like this. You only realize it once you are in it. You get happy when it happens to your loved ones, like when my sister was pregnant. When it has happened to me, I can't stop smiling,' she further added.
