Reality Shows are like an accelerator program, not a measure of your talent - Raghav Meattle
Team Radio City Freedom
Raghav Meattle shot to fame when he participated in second season of the country's only English music reality show, The Stage. The singer songwriter made it to the semi finals of the show and garnered a solid fan base on the way. On being asked about how he became a part of the show, Raghav quipped, "I was working in a startup in Bangalore at the time, when The Stage came auditioning in the city. I was serving my notice period in the company and I was on the verge of joining another fintech company. I went for the auditions and in a week's time I was told that I need to travel to Bombay for the Top 50 selections. I said my goodbyes to both the companies and moved to Bombay and spent two months in the hotel room to perform at The Stage".
Although Raghav is a trained Hindustani classical vocalist and had been art of alt rock bands in his college day's he was not practicing music full time. The reality show route helped him get back to speed with performing live. "What a show like The Stage does is, it gives you a platform. It gives you an audience that you can cash in on once you start your journey as an independent artist. It is like an accelarator program but what you do after that makes or breaks you as an artist. But one thing everyone needs to remember is that reality shows are television programs at the end of the day, it is not a test of how talented you are. If you have not made it to the show, it doesnt mean you cant make it as a musician. There are multiple avenues thatb a musician can take to connect or build an audience." says Raghav.
